    1. As promised, I checked with Dr. Samadzadegan.  He confirmed that as long as you have a GIS research topic, you are allowed to pick your supervisor.

    3. Good news that Dr. Hakimpour is joining our Dept. in Fall.  He has BSc in computer science (Tehran University) and MSc in GIS from ITC (The Netherlands).  He has got his PhD on Spatial DBMS from Zurich. He has also some suggested research topics mentioned below. 

    4. Here are some suggestions for research topics.

        a.    Rajabi and Dr. Majdi (Faculty of Mining): Developing a 3D interpolation and visualization system for underground exploration using GIS

        b.    Rajabi: Developing a search engine for terra size Geospatial Information Systems (like Google Earth)

        c.    Rajabi: 3D GIS (Google Earth/Virtual Earth)

        d.    Rajabi and Mr. Karimipour: Shortest Path in TSP (Travel Sales Person) with time constraints

        e.    Rajabi and Mr. Karimipour: Cellular Automata with variable cell size to predict changes

        f.    Rajabi and Mr. Karimipour: Uncertain Destination

        g.    Rajabi and Mr. Karimipour: Intelligent Transportation System (ITS)

               1. Automatic traffic data acquisition using traffic control cameras and its dissemination,

               2. Finding shortest path using on-the-fly traffic data, and

               3. Handling second hand traffic problem. 

        h.    Rajabi: Business Development Plan using GIS

        i.    Dr. Saadatseresht and KNT University: Optimization of allocating temporarily residence in an Earthquake crisis.
